500 W Green Fiber Laser — A More Stable Solution for Copper Welding

500 W Green Fiber Laser — A More Stable Solution for Copper Welding

Addressing pain points in copper welding such as high reflectivity, high thermal conductivity, and poor weldability, Han’s Photonics, a subsidiary of Han’s Laser, has launched a 500 W green fiber laser, providing high-stability, high-consistency welding solutions for applications in new energy, power electronics, AI high-speed connectors, liquid-cooling heat dissipation, and beyond.

Copper Is Widely Used, but Copper Welding Is Not Simple

Copper and copper alloys offer high electrical conductivity, high thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, non-magnetic behavior, and good ductility, and are widely used in new energy batteries, power electronics, AI data centers, liquid-cooling heat dissipation, and precision manufacturing. However, in laser welding processes, copper also presents notable welding challenges:

1. Low absorptivity, which can lead to insufficient energy utilization;

2. Rapid heat conduction, making the melt pool difficult to control stably;

3. High reflectivity, placing higher demands on optical components and process stability;

4. Strong melt pool fluidity, which can easily generate spatter, inconsistent weld seams, and other issues.

Traditional infrared lasers often face problems in copper welding such as a narrow process window, insufficient welding consistency, and sensitivity to material surface conditions. As application scenarios impose increasingly higher requirements on connection reliability and batch-to-batch stability, copper welding requires more suitable laser solutions.

Compared with Infrared Lasers, Copper Has Significantly Higher Absorptivity For Green Light

In copper processing, green lasers enable more efficient coupling of energy into the bulk material, reducing instability factors caused by high reflectivity and making the welding process more stable. At the same time, this means less welding spatter, more stable melt pool control, smoother and flatter weld bead surfaces, more uniform spot size and depth, a wider process window, and higher batch-to-batch consistency.

For high-reliability manufacturing applications such as new energy batteries, power electronics, and precision copper components, green lasers are becoming an important process choice for copper welding.

500 W Green Fiber Laser

In response to copper welding requirements, Han’s Photonics has launched a 500 W green fiber laser to help break through the manufacturing barriers of highly reflective materials; the series was recently showcased at Formnext Asia 2026 in Shenzhen, attracting considerable attention. The product has a central wavelength of 532 nm, supports continuous/modulated operating modes, offers a maximum modulation frequency of 100 kHz, and delivers a measured output power exceeding 500 W, with excellent power stability and beam quality.

Core features include: 1. High absorption — suitable for welding copper and other highly reflective materials, improving energy utilization efficiency; 2. High stability — power stability of approximately ±1.2% over a 4-hour burn-in test, meeting the requirements for long-duration production validation; 3. High beam quality — measured beam quality M² close to 1.01, facilitating precision welding control; 4. Fast response — emission delay of less than 1 μs, suitable for high-throughput, high-precision processing requirements; 5. Wider process window — insensitive to copper surface conditions, with better welding consistency.

Suitable for Multiple Precision Copper Welding Applications

The Han’s Photonics 500 W green fiber laser can be widely used in multiple welding applications — new energy lithium battery manufacturing: welding of multilayer tabs, current collectors, adapter plates, terminal posts, etc.; AI computing and data centers: precision welding of high-speed copper data cables and connectors; power electronics: high-reliability connections for IGBTs, copper busbars, busbars, etc.; thermal management components: welding of liquid-cooling plates, heat dissipation modules, etc.; precision copper processing: spot welding of pure copper, seam welding of pure copper, and welding of multilayer foils.

In typical copper welding applications, green lasers can achieve stable conduction welding and deep penetration welding, with smooth and flat weld seams, low spatter, and high welding consistency, providing strong support for customers to improve yield and production stability.

A New Choice for Processing Highly Reflective Materials

With the rapid development of new energy, power electronics, AI data centers, and advanced manufacturing industries, copper welding is upgrading toward higher quality, higher efficiency, and higher reliability.

The Han’s Laser 500 W green fiber laser addresses the processing challenges of copper and highly reflective materials, providing customers with stable and efficient laser welding solution.
